Product approvals

Where available, all electrical grade tapes are manufactured to customers own product specifications. Each Wire & Cable manufacturer determines their own precise needs in consideration of the cable construction and their own manufacturing process. Of course, we treat these specifications in a highly confidential manner.

While many of the desired characteristics are present in the chemistry of PTFE, the choice of PTFE type and the tape manufacturing technique have significant impact on the electrical and mechanical properties of the tape. Tape transparency for example is a direct consequence of the type of PTFE resin used.
In the absence of such a product specification being available from the cable producer, Resitape will be happy to create one in accordance with the product being supplied by us.

All tapes are delivered together with a Quality Control Certificate detailing the characteristics of the exact product being supplied. Tapes are produced to meet specific customer orders only and are not delivered ex stock.

Years of continuous supply of precision-engineered PTFE tapes to leading Wire & Cable manufacturers are testament to the absolute quality of our products.

It should be noted that PTFE is not a melt processable material and consequently does not lend itself to secondary recycling. Once a tape is produced it cannot be reworked back to powder form. There is therefore no issue of whether the material is 100% virgin PTFE.

Storage & Handling

Like many other materials, PTFE has a “memory” which will cause the unsintered tape to try and recover its original shape. This is particularly an issue with expanded tapes, which try to retract back to their original density. It is very important therefore to store the material in a cool, clean & dry environment where the temperature should ideally stay under 19°C at all times.

PTFE tape is a completely inert and non-hazardous product and is not subject to particular storage or transportation regulations.

Like all plastics, disposal of scrap should only be done in accordance to governmental regulations.
